The
jury in the trial of two men accused of killing soldier Lee Rigby in
south-east London has been shown CCTV images of one of the suspects
buying knives the day before the attack.
Michael Adebolajo, 28, was shown buying a five-knife block
and a knife sharpener from an Argos store in Lewisham, south-east
London. He and Michael Adebowale, 22, are also accused of attempting to murder a police officer.
Both deny the charges.
They also deny conspiracy to murder a police officer.
On the second day of the trial at the Old Bailey, the court was also shown CCTV images of Mr Adebolajo driving his Vauxhall Tigra on the day of the killing.
At about 09:30 in the morning he was joined by Mr Adebowale and they were seen driving around Lewisham.
The prosecution opened the trial on Friday, giving a detailed and, at times, graphic description of what they say happened on 22 May when Fusilier Rigby, 25, of Middleton, Greater Manchester, was killed as he walked back to Woolwich Barracks.
The prosecutor, Richard Whittam QC, told the court that the defendants had driven a car at Fusilier Rigby at 30-40mph, before trying to decapitate him in the middle of a busy street in a "cowardly and callous murder".
Mr Adebolajo, from Romford, east London, has asked to be known as Mujaahid Abu Hamza in court, and Mr Adebowale, from Greenwich, south-east London, wants to be known as Ismail Ibn Abdullah.
