LAGOS—Lagos
State Government has appealed to striking Lagos State University, LASU
lecturers to embrace dialogue instead of continuing with their
industrial action which it described as “an unnecessary drawback for its
spirited efforts to boost the academic standing and reputation of the
institution.”
The government in a statement weekend, through the
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Lateef Ibirogba, said the
state government would not allow itself to be stampeded into acceding
to demands that were inconsistent with its policy objectives, noting
that it was imperative for Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU,
LASU to have a rethink on its proposed industrial action in the interest
of the students and allow for dialogue.
