In statement , the general manager public affairs NAMA, Mr Supo Atobatele said: “The basic truth however, is that the said suspect was on the ground making phone calls along the airport road close to CENTREX, an annex office of NAMA when the agency’s security personnel accosted him of his presence.

” He was subsequently handed over to the Airport Police Command for further investigation.
” The managing director, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam in a reaction commended the security personnel for their vigilance and prompt arrest
of the suspect.”
A source said the suspect was subsequently moved to the headquarters of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command, at Beesam junction along the Airport Road where he is still under interrogation .

Officials of the Explosive Ordinance Department of the Nigeria Police are still examining the devices found on the young man , which has been allegedly diffused.

Many workers, contractors and others that passed through the main entrance into the headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria( FAAN), NAMA and other offices were subjected to intensive search .
They were requested to submit their bags for check before gaining entrance into the offices.
Workers of aviation agencies gathered in groups to discuss the implication of the threat to security around the airport.
At the Beesam junction headquarters of the police command, detectives, intelligence personnel and anti bomb specialists were on hand to carry out intense interrogation on the suspect.
The commissioner of police, Airport Command, Waheed Salau declined to comment on the development .

Jos Twins Blast: It is a Catastrophe...

Jos a city in the Middle Belt of Nigeria with a population of about 900,000 residents based on the 2006 census was yesterday thrown from its peaceful serene environment to a perfect pandemonium as two bomb explosions ripped through Terminus Market in the city.
In a Police report ,it says that 46 were killed while 45 others were injured. President Goodluck Jonathan, Governor Jonah Jang and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal condemned the event.  The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), described the casualty rate of the blasts as catastrophic. In a statement released by a NEMA official, he says “I can’t tell you the figure of those killed by the blasts now, because we are still evacuating bodies from the scene. “The only thing I can say is that the casualty figure is very massive. It is a catastrophe,”
An account of the occurrence was recanted thus-
The explosion was first heard inside the market, at Jos Terminus, behind the popular Ahmadu Bello Way by 2.30pm as reported by an eye witness inside Sienna space bus, while the second explosion occurred about 30 minutes later.
It was gathered that it was the second blast which killed more people because people went to rescue their injured colleagues and see what actually occurred.

Briefing journalists in Jos, the State Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakpe said the bodies have been deposited at the Plateau Specialists Hospital and the Bingham University Teaching Hospital, all in Jos.
Olakpe said: “At about 1500hrs, we heard an explosion but on getting there, a secondary explosion occurred along the same axis. In a situation like this, we don’t rule out high casualties but we are following up to check the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH and other places.
“Anyone with information should come forward with such as it will help us in our investigation”.
The CP who was flanked by heads of other security outfits appealed to residents to remain calm and steer clear of the scenes of the explosions as investigations were still ongoing.
He advised residents not to always rush to scenes of explosion as shrapnel could add to the casualties.
